Guest Post Series: Courtney from A Thoughtful Place Dresses Up Her Kitchen

Hi there! I am Courtney from a thoughtful place and am beyond honored to be hanging out at A Well Dressed Home today. I absolutely love Emily’s style and am continuously impressed with her talents.

One of my passions is making our house a home. Whether it be a small do it yourself project or a major renovation, changes made to a home can really serve to make a space beautiful. One of my favorite projects was our Kitchen upgrade. I can’t say it was a complete remodel as we began with white cabinets and black granite counter tops. However, the space lacked all personality and charm. There was something about that was rather drab and dull. With a few changes, the space has completely changed the way we feel about our kitchen.

We failed in taking great before shots, but here are a couple so you can see how the space began.

Not the most inspiring space! You can see that the black granite when six inches up the wall and beyond that there was no backsplash. The piece of granite behind the cook top also made the space look very dark.

To change it up we did the following changes:

  • new appliances
  • subway tileĀ backsplash
  • new Moen faucet
  • bin pulls fromĀ here
  • under cabinet lighting
  • glass front cabinet doors
I had always dreamed of a bright white kitchen. There is something about cooking and prepping in space with a white back drop. It just makes me smile. Here is the after:

And if you are wondering about the pink towel, that is one of my mommy tips which you can read about here! Thanks for letting me share the before and after of our kitchen! And thank you, Emily, for letting me hang out here today!

Thanks so much, Courtney! My kitchen remodel was my favorite project, too! It seems that you and I both have a love for black and white kitchens! They are just so crisp and clean, don’t you all agree??

It’s amazing what a difference the new appliances make. And the glass doors on the cabinets add that extra interest! …. Very nice!

  • Courtney, you have just provided with proof that we need to remove the granite backsplash in out kitchen. I always loved your kitchen and totally agree about having a white back drop. That picture of your daughter is darling!
