Before & After Dining Room Make Over Reveal

11 A Well Dressed Home Dining Room After

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving…I know I did, and I now have a waistline to prove it. Ugh.

Anyhoo, it’s back to the grind around here… and today I’m excited to finally show you this dining room project in its entirety! I was so lucky to have, yet again, extremely amazing clients who were so much fun to work with. I’m not sure how I get so lucky!

From the very beging of this project, my client expressed that she wanted an inviting space with a pop of color… after working with her for only a few days, I began to realize that she desired a bit of a vintage feel, which I was really excited to incorporate into the design.

Dreary Dining Hutch Painted to Perfection!

Hutch After - A Well Dressed Home

I‘m headed out the door to have another project photographed this morning, but because I’m quite possibly THE most impatient human being on the planet (just ask my husband!!), I have decided that I can’t wait to share a piece of this project with you…so I’m serving up a before & after of a dining hutch that we had refinished for the space.

I found the hutch at the ever fabulous Again & Again in the Dallas Design District. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the perfect fit for my client’s dining room.

Sneak Peek: My New Tufted Dining Chairs

dining sneak

A couple of months ago, I finally pulled the trigger on the dining chairs from Overstock that I posted about back in December. I knew I had to have them when I ordered what I thought were very similar chairs from the Weirs Outlet for a client’s dining room… I “conveniently” had her chairs delivered to my house before installation, and tested them out around my own dining room table…I was immediately sold! I actually wasn’t even aware that they were the EXACT same chair until my Overstock chairs were delivered…I just figured they were very similar.

Before & After: Dining Room Makeover on a Budget!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Today I am sharing the dining room makeover which I exposed a sneak peek of last week.

Like all of my clients, this client wanted their dining room to have a “light / bright” feel….but they needed it to be practical for their two little ones.

Here is their dining room in it’s primitive state…

As you can see, they have a lot of dark furniture and accessories as well as a dated light fixture.

My jumping off point was actually the existing wall color…it is the most alluring shade of a taupey-gray. I just love it!

Here is their dining room after the makeover…

As you can see, we replaced the small bar against the wall with a lengthy buffet, added custom drapes, a rug, accessories, a chic lucite and chrome light fixture, as well a silver sunburst mirror. And the best part? We spent less than $1500! About $1440 to be exact.

Thanks so much to Andrea & Cody for being so fun to work with!

Weekend Recap & A Dining Room Makeover Sneak Peek

What. A. Weekend. {sigh} It was quite a productive one, but boy am I exhausted from working all weekend! From paint color selections for a (fabulous) Spanish style home that I’m working on in University Park – to putting the finishing touches on a dining room makeover – to wrapping up an online design board – to responding to a heap of emails about Saturday’s feature in the Dallas Morning News  (emails which I am very thankful for!!).

And now it’s Monday…usually that would be depressing, but not today! Can you guess why? Because today I’m having my painter come out to give me a quote on, you guessed it, painting our interior doors black! Yep – thanks to all of your encouraging words, I’m pulling the trigger and I cannot wait to see the end result! But after careful consideration, I have decided to go for a very rich coco color rather than a stark black….. So stay tuned for pics!

In the mean time, I wanted to share a sneak peek of the dining room makeover that I completed this weekend. I wasn’t able to get pictures of the entire space as we wrapped up the design just hours before my clients were hosting a party (yikes!). But I was happy to hear that the room was a huge hit with all of their guests! Here is just a glimpse of the newly designed room…

Do you recognize the fabric in the background from THIS post?? Don’t you just love it!

The best part about this makeover was that it was done for less than $1500! Stay tuned for the big reveal!

A Little Design Inspiration for Your Monday…

Happy Monday everyone! Today I want to share with you a design board that is a bit different than any other design board I have ever done.

Usually my boards incorporate touches of accent colors and bold patterns, however this board is all about the soft, sophisticated neutrals, and I’m loving it!

The pieces above will be paired with a sleek black dining table and hutch…stunning! I can’t wait to see it all come together!

My Latest Obsession: Horizontal Striped Drapes

I’m in the midst of doing an online design board for a client’s master bedroom… One of my requirements when doing an online design board is that the client send me a few inspiration photos, so that I can make sure I have a clear understanding of their desired design.

I am absolutely drooling over one in particular inspiration picture that this client sent me…it is to die for! See for yourself!

I am loving the sparkly, yet serene color scheme, but I have to say that the horizontal striped drapes are my favorite part of the room – hands down. I also love the ivory vintage chandelier…so feminine!

I am keen on the fact that there are a minimal amount of pillows on the bed as well…that sure makes it easy when it comes time to make or un-make the bed. I don’t know about you, but when my husband makes the bed, I secretly go back and re-make it :-) We have so many pillows on our bed that it can be difficult to place everything just right! He tells me that I tend be way too picky when it comes to stuff like that, but what-evs…I prefer to think of it as being detail oriented!

So what do you think about the horizontal striped drapes? Are you dying for a pair yourself? By the way, have you seen Courtney’s dining room drapes over at A Thoughtful Place? Don’t you just love them? Umm, yeah…she made them herself – she’s crazy talented.

If you have seen any other amazing examples of horizontal striped drapes, send them my way…I’d love to see them!
