Alice’s Wonderland

1 mebeck wm

H ave you all had a chance to check out the latest blog on my blog roll, Live Beautifully? It is written by my friend, and former classmate at Texas Tech, Maria Beck.

Maria is a licensed Interior Designer in San Antonio…her work is unmistakably sophisticated, yet very understated, which I love. Recently, Maria and her husband, Frank, welcomed their first child, Alice. When I learned of Maria’s pregnancy, I just knew Alice’s nursery would be nothing less than spectacular…and it was… So with Maria’s permission, I just had to share it with you today…

First, let’s start with the fabrics that set the tone for her design…

Not what you were expecting for a baby girl’s nursery? That’s why I love it!! It is so unexpected!

Now let’s move on to the crib… Maria actually selected the crib that I had in mind for my upcoming nursery….in fact, it’s the same crib that I had specified for my friend, Tessa’s, nursery design board back in May.

I decided on this particular crib because of it’s simplicity, but it only comes in white, black and ebony, which is great….but a couple of months ago I got to thinking…I wonder if I could paint the crib??? It sounded crazy, but for some reason I had this idea in my head of having either a brightly colored aqua or a metallic gold crib… I ended up dismissing the idea as I figured it was probably unsafe for the baby.

Well, low and behold….guess what Maria & Frank did to Alice’s crib???…..

Yep! They painted it!! And it is just as gorgeous as I had imagined! You can read more about that here

With a crib that stunning, you can only imagine what the rest of the nursery looks like… so without further ado… here is Alice’s Wonderland….

(notice her black doors? Maria was the one who encouraged me to pull the trigger on mine! and I just realized that our doors have the same detailing…love it!)

Don’t you just LOVE the nursery?!

Alice seems to be enjoying it as well…isn’t she precious?!

  • This nursery is one of the softest and visually well-balanced I’ve ever come across. I sure hope I get a client in Oakville, ON (in Canada!) who wants a sophisticated nursery…and when that happens, I can go back to this picture and say “How about one that feels like this one?”

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  • That is quite a nursery and I must say I have never seen a gold crib! I am just wondering what child proof paint they used? Love those fabrics as well…I think we have something similar to that floral and the touch of green is so stylish! Lucky little girl…thanks for sharing the inspiration.
