A Little D.I.Y. Greek Key Lamp Shade
I have this great little consignment store in my neighborhood which I try to visit as often as possible as they have some really unique finds. During one of my visits, I stumbled upon a great lamp shade with a greek key trim… I loved the idea, so I decided that this would be the inspiration for a little DIY project I had in mind for lamp shades of my own!
- Here is a picture of the lamp shade in our master bedroom….there are 2…one on each side of the bed. The shades are linen, which I love; however I wanted to jazz them up a bit as I felt they needed a little detail to help them stand apart from our linen head board.
So I chose an ivory ribbon with metallic gold greek keys…and with nothing but a little fabric glue, I trimmed the top and bottom border. I am happy with the end result as I feel that the width of the ribbon gives it a slightly understated look, but the metallic in the greek keys is just enough to make the shades pop.

The ribbon you chose is just perfect! It’s nice that the shades already had a nice little border on them. The lamp is great too- where’d you find it?

Thank you! I actually got the lamps from a model home sale here in Dallas….$10 each!
