Before & After: A Little Girl’s “Big Girl” Room Reveal

AWDH K Gressle Big Girl Room 4

Remember when I teased you with this project sneak peek a couple of months ago? Well, I am excited to reveal it in it’s entirety today! It’s a fairly dramatic “before & after,” which is always fun!

This family of 5….make that family of 6 (as of yesterday!!), resides in one of Dallas’ most historic neighborhoods. They recently moved here from Denver and are excited to begin making this 1930′s sprawling ranch style house their home. We started with their little girl’s room, which was most likely the former owner’s little boy’s room as it was covered top to bottom with blue, blue and more blue.

Here are pictures of the space before the transformation:

My client’s desire was to have a room that her little girl could grow into… something fun and frilly, yet sophisticated and versatile.

And here is this lucky little girl’s room now…

I adore the fresh white walls paired with the pink ceiling…I thought it was a bit unexpected.

And notice the black closet doors? Yes, they are the exact doors that I have in my house…right down to the added molding and the paint color (which you can read about HERE)…they add that touch of sophistication that we were looking for.

Most of you are aware of my love for symmetry, so we opted for 2 twin beds, so that little Miss K could accomodate over night guests… The headboards were custom made at an exagerated height of 70″ to create a bit of drama.

Miss K is thrilled with her new big girl room….now if we could just get her to actually sleep in there instead of bunking with her brothers down the hall :-)

Oh, and as I mentioned, this family recently became a family of six….they welcomed their sweet baby boy yesterday! Congrats G family! And guess who had the pleasure of designing their baby boy’s nursery?! Yep! Another super fun project for this family! I promise to have photos to you within the next couple of weeks!

**Out of respect to my clients, I decline to share any sources for the designs. Thank you for your understanding**

Beautiful and elegant! I know you don’t give out source information but any chance you can pass along the name of the paint on the ceiling? It looks like the perfect shade of pink!
    Thanks.

I adore twin bedroom set ups. I grow up close to my younger sister and we had matching twin beds. 40 years now after my mom purchased the beds I have them in my house and not sure what color to paint them but now this post have given me the right direction.
