Before & After: Twin’s Nursery Revealed!

I finally had the opportunity to photograph Beckham & Stella’s nursery last weekend….it’s about time…I only announced this project 8 1/2 months ago
I have to say, this nursery was not an easy project for me….gender neutral can be quite a challenge….I seemed to want to go all the way feminine or all the way masculine. I am already an indecisive person, but throw pregnancy into the mix and I can take indecisive to a whole new level. Remember all of those fabric combinations that I posted about? As I’ve mentioned, I opted out of all of them! In fact, the only plan that I didn’t deviate from was the furniture plan, which I am very pleased with:
Anyhow…if you are new to this blog, or haven’t seen the room when it was in it’s sorry excuse for a “man cave” state, check it out HERE.
As a reminder, here are a few before pics of the space:
Good God….I can’t even look at those pictures without cringing.
Anyways, here is the nursery today!
The biggest expense were the built-ins on the former tv wall as well as the extended closet. As you’ll notice in the 3rd “before” picture, there was a lovely treadmill in a niched corner of the room, which was adjacent to the former closet. We opted to extend the former closet into that niche which gave us twice the closet space.
The drawer space that the built-ins offer have been a life saver!
I had a blast accessorizing all of the shelves, but quickly realized that I need to order some 8×10′s of the kids…the only 8×10′s I had available are of my husband and I.
One of my favorite items in the nursery is this Somewhere Over the Rainbow verse… I found it on Etsy and had to have it as it’s the song that I walked down the isle to when we got married.
And a big thanks to my Mom for helping me bring the nursery together and getting it organized while I was on hospital bed rest.
***All safety precautions have been put into place in this nursery and all window treatments are cordless.***

LOVE the nursery! Great job! Could you tell me who did your built ins? We are looking to do something similar in our family room and we live in Dallas, so I’d love a recommendation! Thanks!

Oh my gosh what an incredibly beautiful and peaceful nursery for you and your sweet little babies!! And remember – “Cleanin’ and scrubbin’ can wait till tomorrow for babies grow up much to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep cause I’m rockin’ my babies and babies don’t keep.”. Enjoy those babies!!

Crystal

Julia
I am so in love with this nursery. It’s beautiful, for starters. But as a mom of two under two, I can attest to just how calm and functional this space is. Which ultimately trumps all. The dual chairs and the cabinet are brilliant! Seriously! I haven’t been to your blog in a while and I am so glad I found it again this morning!
Mindy
came from a thoughtful place to see the before. and WOW what a transformation!!!
Becca
You did a beautiful job! That was a great use of space- I would have been totally lost with a narrow rectangular room needing to house two babies!!
xo Becca
Jennifer @ Dimples and Tangles
So pretty, Emily! Congratulations on those sweet babies. Would love to know a source for your drapes. I’m days away from painting my master Comfort Gray and love how yours turned out!
Maggie
It’s a stunning and gorgeous room!! if only babies stayed newborns forever…what will this room be transformed into once they get past the newborn stage and into full-throttle toddlers with toys everywhere?!
Jessica @ StayatHomeista
I love it! Just FB’ed it, since I’m probably not going to have twins (3 under 5 are keeping my busy right now) and this would be my dream twins nursery!
Krista
Absolutely beautiful! Where did you find the picture frames!

Katie McCarty
GORGEOUS!!! What a beautiful nursery!
Cindy
Love those chevron pillows, they really give a focal point to the room.
Sarah
This takes my breath away. What I REALLY love, being the mom of an ever-growing girl, is that I can picture moving out the crib(s) and putting a bed–the room would work for a newborn, toddler, tween, tween, guest room….and it would always work. Beautiful!
Kelsey
This is seriously gorgeous!!!! I know this might be a silly question, but are those real or fake flowers? I LOVE the look, but don’t think I could afford new flowers each week. Also where did you get your vases? I LOVE this room!
Emily Hewett
Yes, the flowers are real, but I don’t plan on replenishing them as they were only for the photo shoot.
Most of the vases were random HomeGoods finds.
Kerri
Hi Emily- I love the curtains, pb is selling something similar right now but they have grommet tops and I like them better without. Would you be willing to share where you purchased them?
Kerri
Emily Hewett
I actually bought them at West Elm, and they did have grommet tops. I just cut off the grommets when shortening the drapes…so essentially I hemmed the drapes from the top instead of from the bottom.
Rebecca Jensen
Lovely room! I was wondering what crib bedding you used?
GlamorousMommy
Wow, this is so beautiful, I love it!! You did an incredible job piecing everything together! Your babies are very lucky to have such a beautiful room to rest their heads

Do you have a close up of you baby bedding? Did you sew it yourself? I am having a hard time finding bedding to coordinate with these colors
Emily Hewett
It is custom, but I didn’t sew it myself…
Kat
Beautiful! What color and brand of paint do you have on the walls?
Emily Hewett
SW Comfort Grey

You created a peaceful retreat for parents to enjoy spending time with their children, decorated to an adult’s taste not necessarily a child’s. A rule more designers should follow. Beautiful job.
Dana
I LOVE what you did! I too just found out I am having twins and was wondering who made the cribs??
Emily Hewett
Thanks! I bought them off of Amazon. They are the Jenny Lind…
Mindy
Where did you get the chandelier, so hard to find golds that till look modern.
