The Twins & Their Nursery Sneak Peek!

Nursery Mood Board

As I had mentioned in previous blog posts, my pregnancy has rattled us with one surprise after another.

Surprise #1 – last summer, we were informed that we would need InVitro Fertilization in order to even get pregnant…

We were fortunate enough to get pregnant on the first round, and finding out while vacationing with my family in Maui was awesome!

4 weeks pregnant

Surprise #2 – After finding out we were pregnant, we were told for weeks that I was only carrying one, when in fact, I was carrying TWINS!

In January, we managed to sneak in one last trip to NYC to visit my brother and his girlfriend…

5 months pregnant

And only days after my two baby showers….

Baby Shower #1 - Me & the Hostesses

…came Surprise #3 – the totally unexpected 4 weeks of hospital bed rest – ugh. At least the dogs got to come for a visit!

Adley & Luca's hospital visit

And Surprise #4, our final surprise, came only days after I was sent home from hospital bed rest. At  33 weeks pregnant and 4 weeks away from my scheduled c-section… I went into labor!

Yes, it’s official, we are now proud parents of twins!

Meet Christopher Beckham Hewett (Beckham) Born at only 3 lbs 13 oz

And Estelle Rene’ Hewett (Stella) Born at only 3 lbs 11 oz

This picture of me & Stella really puts their “tiny-ness” into perspective…

Needless to say, they are still in the hospital, but we hope to have them home soon. In the mean time, I am putting a few final touches on the nursery, so I’m hoping to have it posted within the next few weeks. Until then, I thought I’d share my final nursery mood board with you as kind of a sneak peek.

I didn’t end up using any of the fabrics from my previous nursery posts…But I did stick with the furniture layout which I posted about HERE. I’m going to go ahead and blame my indecisiveness on my pregnancy hormones :-)

I’ll be sure to post pictures as soon as I wrap up all of the finishing touches!

And for those of you who have recently inquired about services…I am back from maternity leave in August, but I am booked with “in home” clients until January 2013. However, I do have openings for online design boards starting in mid August, so please email me if you are interested! Emily@awelldressedhome.com

And although I am officially on maternity leave, I do plan on popping in from time to time to expose some of my recent projects, which I posted about HERE. I am hoping to be able to get them photographed within the next month or two.

Congratulations- they’re gorgeous! I had Nicu babies too so I know you are anxious to get them home but be sure to rest and take good care of yourself while you are spared from the middle of the night feedings x2. I hope you had a smooth delivery and that everyone is doing well. I look forward to seeing the finished nursery!

    They are beautiful! Congratulations.

One of my best friends delivered her twin boys at 25 weeks. They were 1 and 2 pounds at birth, the tiniest babies I had ever seen. To put it in perspective, my friend and her husband’s wedding bands fit around the babies’ upper arms. They are now a year old, walking, talking, and into EVERYTHING! The journey with premies can be scary at first, but the babies will do great and the rewards are two-fold!

Congrats! I had triplets born at 30 weeks. Hang in there in the NICU world. It was a little up and down for us. Hopefully it will be smooth for you. Get as much sleep as you can the next couple of weeks because once they are home, it is alllll over….unless you get a night nanny. (I highly recommend at least 2 nights a week!) I also have one named Beckham!-and my boys are kindergarteners now. :) I also was on hospital bedrest for 3 weeks before delivery (fun, fun)! I can’t believe your dogs could come in. That is hilarious!

    April 25, 2012
    • Thanks Melody! I cannot believe you have a Beckham, too!! One of nurses in the hospital had a neighbor with a son named Beckham as well… I thought my husband and I were being soooo original! Haha! :-)
Yes, we do have a night nanny coming for a few nights a week. We were told that they are “worth their weight in gold” with multiples!
      Thanks again!

You are sooo right! I had NO idea how fast the time would pass, but I’m making up for it with my ‘Grands’! Time stands still whenever they want my attention. I don’t care how long the story or joke or game takes…it’s THEIR time!

Congratulations on your beautiful babies!!! Make sure to record their sounds. Someone told me to do that with my first, and I made sure to do it with all three. Everyone always has a ton of pics, but the actual cooing and random sounds that are their own are priceless and will be funny for them when they are older. Enjoy every second!

(P.S. I love your blog and all of your ideas.)

My very best congratulations on the birth of your beautiful babies!!

As a mother of 2 grown boys (ages 30 and 20) and a grandmother of an 18 month old adorable granddaughter (Zoe), cherish every moment! It is so true what they say, the time flies by!!

I still remember taking my sons to their first day in first grade and sobbing all the way to work realizing they were growing up and way too fast.

Enjoy all of your precious moments with your 2 precious babies!!

Welcome to motherhood! The best job in the world!!

My “baby” is now 51 years old — but I still remember so many of the cute things he did when he really was a baby!!!

Enjoy every moment, as I know you will.
