Just wondering where your sourced those round bullseye type mirrors with the black frames I see in these pictures! They are a really nice design element with these colors.

    • Thanks Vickie…. They were purchased at the Dallas Trade Center.

Too funny- I just color-matched Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter at Home Depot this morning (before reading your post) and it came up with the Behr Castle Path. All my samples so far are reading too blue or violet on my living room walls, so I’m trying more taupe-y hues instead. How does the Behr Ashes compare to the Castle Path (it’s so hard to tell from pics and since you’ve seen both, I thought I’d ask). :)

    • Carol,

Ashes tends to come out a bit blue….have you tried Graceful Gray by Behr?

Thanks so much for the response, Emily. I’m actually loving the Castle Path– gave it some time to dry and settle and no blue/violet to be seen! Success! My room seems to pull blue out of everything, so I think I’ve found a winner. Your help is really appreciated– have a great day!

Hi Emily! I’ve just recently found your blog and I fell in love with your decorating style!! I’m wanting to redo our master bedroom and have been looking everywhere (with no luck) for a paisley quilt to fold at the bottom of our bed. Then I saw a pic of your bedroom and it was exactly what I had been looking for. Would you mind telling me where you bought your bedding? Thanks so much!!

    • Thanks, Kristen!

The bedding was custom made…the fabric is Latika by Kravet.

Hi Emily- I am new reader of your blog and really love your style. My husband and I have been talking about painting our interior doors for awhile and wondered if you painted both sides of all of your doors, in particular the closet and bathroom ones.

    Thanks!

  • I’m transitioning my home from browns to gray as my neutral and found your blog. I’ve pinned almost every picture of your home on my Pinterest account. I’m so in love with your style! In my opinion, you’ve nailed the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. I really appreciate your involvement in the comments section. I too have been struggling with Ashes being a very bluish gray and in my very bright daylight-filled living room it looks almost French country blue. I’ve bought a sample of Graceful Gray and it seems a lot more toned down, and plays well with brown accents. It’s a surprisingly bright gray. I’m hoping it will work for us! Thanks for your help!

    Hey Emily,
I have never used Behr paint before. My friend loves it, she says you can scrub the flat paint w/soap and water and it still looks great…your walls get scrubbed alot when you have small children :) I usually buy Ben Moore paint in eggshell finish. Which finish in the Behr paint do you use? I really didn’t want to use flat, but would be open to it if it looked good. Thanks so much! Love love love your house. Also, when you do design boards for clients, do you also tell them where to purchase the items you pick out for their rooms? I live in Alabama.

    • I usually use egg shell finish…

And yes, design boards include a floor plan and a specifications sheet.

      Thanks!

    • The walls are Behr Ashes and the cabinets were a color match… Good luck!

    Hi Emily,

Thank you for answering so many helpful paint questions! There is one paint color you didn’t mention in your home, it looks like it might be a bluish/gray color in your hallway (I’m guessing off of your bedrooms), I really love it!

    Thanks!

    • It is all Behr Ashes… Thanks

    Emily,
Thank you for posting your pictures..they are great inspiration! I love the master bedroom project with Behr Ashes and would like to duplicate that look. I am curious. We do not have white woodwork. We have oak..that after 20 yrs has a hint of orange to it. No option for painting the wood. So, I really want to find a paint color that will not highlight the orange in the woodwork…should I stay away from the blue tones? Do you have a suggestion for wall color? I am also installing new carpet..so need to find the right color there too. Thanks!

    Hi,
Could you recommend a good white paint color to use on crown molding? We recently moved into a house with many different whites and want to make a good choice!
    Thanks,

Love the look of your home. What finish did you choose for the Behr ashes? Matte, eggshell, satin…?

Beautiful rooms and colors! In that last picture, with the “Dragon’s Breath” door, what is the color used on that wall? Is that Ashes, as well? Love it!
